Moving In (Chase) Empty Moving In (Chase)

Cass stepped into the Hermes cabin, which was surprisingly empty. The floor was still littered with the trash of various demigods, most of which would probably help Castor identify their parents. He was good at things like that. He could take one look at a demigod and say,"Oh that kid's a child of Ares." or, "Oh I bet she's a child of Demeter." For the most part, it was simple for Cass. No more than a guessing game, which he usually ended up winning. He'd never witnessed a claimiing himself, though, but he'd made a lot of inferences when he'd walked into camp. Aphrodite kid, Zeus kid, Hades kid. What really bugged Cass was the fact that he just couldn't pinpoint who his parent was. He was the brainy one while Chase was the good-natured one and Ethan had been the charming one. They were completely different, and it made Castor mad that Ethan had not been claimed in his five years at Camp Half-Blood as a child.

Castor missed his eldest brother terribly. Ethan had been killed a few weeks prior to Cass and Chase's arrival at camp. Cass knew that leaving home virtually unprotected was a bad idea. All they'd had were their bracelets. Castor used to scare him when he was younger. It was a bow with a quiver full of arrows that magically refilled itself. Both the bow and the arrows were made out of yew wood, which Cass knew symbolize poison and evil. On top of that, its name was Memento Mori. From English to Latin, it translated to, "Remember, you must die."

Castor was only 10 years old and having lost a brother on top of having a weapon that symbolized evil and feeling a strong hatred towards the gods......well, no ten year old wanted that. Cass looked down at his necklace, the one Ethan had given him. It had five camp beads on it from when Ethan had been a child. He'd been at camp for five years without so much as a sign from his god parent. Cass looked up and turned around. The door to the Hermes cabin was open, so he could still see Chase stared in wonder at the other cabins. "Come on, Chase!"

"Hey, Cass, wait up!" Chase ran after his little brother. There was no way he was going to let any harm come to him, not a chance. They'd run away from home and their brother had died. After that, Chase didn't think he could stand losing Castor as well. "Hey, Brain Boy, slow down!" Cass was by far smaller than Chase, seeing as the former was only ten years old. Chase, being fifteen was taller and some would describe him as muscular and fast, but not when he was clad in Greek armor that weighed more than himself. He and Cass had stopped by the armory before the Hermes cabin, but Castor didn't wear any armor, complaining that it was too heavy and armor was no good if it slowed someone down to the point where the monster could find a weak spot sooner.

Sometimes, it was very trying dealing with a ten year old. Chase was no good at it. Ethan had been the best. He'd always gotten good grades, girls, any material item he wished for, played in nearly all of the school sports and still had time to come home to put Cass in bed at night. Castor's dreams seemed like the worst by far between him Chase and Ethan. He'd wake up screaming in the middle of the night, or perhaps it was just because he was young. Chase hadn't woken up screaming like that, had he? He shrugged the thought off. It was because Castor was up all night with his incessant studies and training with his bow, Memento Mori.

It was an odd thing, really. Castor and Chase each had a bracelet. Ethan had one too, but Chase had inherited it. The bracelets had been apparently given to them when they were born. Maybe not, but they'd had them for as long as they could remember. Castor's was a bow made of yew wood with the arrows to match.

For some reason, Cass had been scared of it when he'd found out what the wood was made of. Chase had a 3 foot, double edged golden sword with a hilt encrusted with rubies and diamonds. It was called Malus, which meant evil. Chase hadn't named it, the name was inscribed on the inside of the metal bracelet. Ethan'd had a celestial bronze dagger that was called Addonexus, meaning Bringer of Death. It's blade was sharp and unusually long for a dagger. The celestial bronze blade had been dipped in poison when it was made. A poison that never wore off even through all of the blood that had been spilled by it.

As Chase thought through all of this, he'd stopped walking. He looked up to see Castor's head peering out of the Hermes Cabin's opened door. Why couldn't they stay in a nicer cabin? Hera and Artemis did not go around having kids, so why not allow some unclaimed demigods to stay in there? "Cass, wait up!" Chase pushed himself harder and harder to run faster. The Greek armor was really slowing him down.

Chase darted inside to Hermes cabin and tripped over some more bulky Greek armor. If he saw one more breast plate, he was going to explode. Chase walked over to Castor and put a hand on his shoulder. "This is where we're supposed to live?" He then realized that he would have to be optimistic for his little brother. Any good leader led by example. If he didn't act like everything was going to be fine, then what would Cass do? "Well, I guess we can take that spot over there," Chase pointed to a section of the floor that was not littered wth somebody else's junk. "We can go see later if we can get any sleeping bags from the camp store, alright?"

Moving In (Chase) Empty Re: Moving In (Chase)

Cass turned back to look the cabin over once more when he saw Chase coming towards him. He'd turned his head to conceal the small laugh that was trying to escape his lips. Castor had not laughed since Ethan had died, but it certainly was funny watching his brother sprint towards him clad in heavy Greek armor. Castor couldn't wear it, he was against the armor. Chase had insisted that he'd get killed if he did not wear it and that it was for protection. Cass did not see wht somebody would wear something so heavy that it made the wearer slow enough that the monster would be able to hit them a few times before they actually got their weapon out. Armor was supposed to help, not get the warrior killed. Then again, Ethan had been a great warrior, and he got killed because he had no armor.

Stop it, Cass. Ethan's death was not your fault. Cass tried to make himself see reason, to tell himself that he had no hand in Ethan's death. Still, that cruel little part in the back of his mind kept making him feel guiltier. You hid in a tree. You could have helped, Castor. You could have prevented your brother's death. It is all your fault. There it was again. That raspy old voice that Castor called the Lord Voldemort Voice. He wasn't going to sound like that when he was older was he?

Castor jumped as someone put their hand on his shoulder. He whirled around a realized it was just Chase. "Yeah, this is where we're supposed to live." Cass grabbed his brother's hand and led him over tothe area of space that was clean. "I don'twant to sleep there. There don't seem to be many people at camp, I think the past demigods just left their junk for us to clean up. C'mon, C, let's just grab a bunk before anyone arrives at camp to stop us." There was no way Cass was sleeping on the floor, just no way. Cass pointed to a couple of decent looking bunks in the far corner of the room, opposite to where the open floor space was. The stuff on the bunks was covered in dust, like nobody had been there for ages. "Come on, Chase. We can sleep there and save your drachmas."
